Beauty on a Budget: Part 1
Do you want to look fabulous without breaking the bank? We all know amazing products exist but they usually have not-so-amazing price tags attached. I am reassured of that disturbing reality every time I open a magazine. You see this incredible shot of Reece Witherspoon grocery shopping (who looks like that at the grocery store?!) and the magazine is generous enough to list all of the products she is wearing. Low and behold she is glowing because her moisturizer cost $115 a bottle. I don’t know about you but I can’t max out my credit card on make-up. I’ve got to leave room for clothes, hair care, traveling…I guess I should include bills and groceries in this list too. Don’t get me wrong there are products that I can NOT live without and I am willing to pay a pretty penny for them but the key is to find a balance. I need something affordable to balance out my $50 Urban Decay Naked eye shadow. I don’t care that my dry shampoo costs $2.88; I will flaunt my Sauvé proudly because it works and ultimately that is all that matters. (There is nothing more infuriating than products that make me look like I forgot to get ready that day after only 3 hours.) Here are 5 of my must-haves that not only stand the test of time, but also leave money in my bank account for J. Crew shopping sprees bills.
1. Neutrogena Oil-free Moisturizer: $9.99
This moisturizer has been a staple of mine for years. Shout out to Cason for recommending it…I give her all the credit for finding this little gem! I love how it goes on and does not leave my face feeling oily.
2. Maybelline Baby Lips: $2.99
The Grape Vine shade is my favorite lip balm of all time! Not only does it moisturize your lips, it is tinted, AND it has SPF 20…triple threat!
3. Suave Dry Shampoo: $2.88
This dry shampoo is the bomb.com. Do you want to know the best part about it? Target always sells them in sets of two! I buy this stuff by the dozen. It’s not even right how often I use it. I should just wash my hair. Now I’m embarrassed and moving on…
4. Elf Primer: $6.00
While I do LOVE my Hourglass Primer for special occasions, this Elf Primer by Target works great for regular, everyday use and makes the expensive stuff last a little longer.
5. Maybelline Mascara Colossal Volume Express: $7.49
I love this Maybelline mascara in combination with my Benefit Cosmetics mascara. I truly believe the combination of the two is a secret that I have cracked!
