Weekend at Chateau Elan
This past weekend Cason and I surprised my mom with a night at Chateau Elan for Mother’s Day! Chateau Elan Winery and Resort is located in Braselton, GA. I had never been there before and was excited to see what it was all about. It was the definition of a perfect weekend getaway. Driving distance? Check. Relaxing? Check. Good food? Check. Winery? Bonus. Who knew this little gem was nestled about 45 minutes north of Atlanta. When we arrived we immediately headed to the winery. We were pressed for time since the last wine tasting starts at 5pm. For the wine tastings and tours you are not able to make reservations, they are first come, first serve. You can book private group tours of the winery if you are interested. We decided to go the classic route and sampled different red and white wines. The wine tasting was probably my favorite thing we did all weekend. Gabbing with mom and Cason while sampling different wines…sounds pretty perfect to me!
Wine tasting gives you wings.
We ate at Café Elan for dinner and the food was incredible. We ordered one of our favorite bottles from the wine tasting and tried out the grilled flat bread appetizer. The flat bread was topped with house-made fresh mozzarella, vine ripe tomatoes, and basil. It tasted straight out of the Mediterranean and was mouth wateringly good. For our meals, Cason ordered the filet, Mom ordered the salmon, and I ordered the house-made fettuccini with a vodka tomato cream sauce. We sampled each other’s meals and all came to the same conclusion. That was the best meal we’ve had in a long time. Trust me on this.
Sunday morning my mom tried out the spa and gave it 5 stars. Cason and I took one for the team since spa reservations were in high demand for Mother’s Day weekend. We made reservations at Versailles for a Mother’s Day brunch. Trust me when I say…it was quite the spread. They had everything from omelets and eggs benedict to crab legs and prime rib. Let’s talk about the important stuff here- the desserts. The dessert bar was straight from heaven. They had chocolate covered strawberries, key lime pie, peanut butter bars, cheese cake, pot au crème, macaroons and the list goes on and on!
If you are looking for a weekend getaway, I recommend visiting Chateau Elan! From the rooms to the restaurant, our stay was fantastic. We were able to walk around and get pictures of the vineyards but I would love to go back in the fall when the grapes are growing.
Can we talk about this Girls Just Wanna Have Wine weekend? I’m thinking I need to gather the girls and go!
